Description The project name is Khlong Suvarnabhumi, Section 2. The project is located just south of the Suvarnabhumi Airport.
The project is divided into three sections. A water channel with a motorway on each side is being constructed, running from north to south.
The road embankments are 2.5 meters high and 22 meters wide at the base with a 12 meter crest. Under each road embankment are panels of 10 columns ea. with a panel spacing of 1.5 meter and column cc @ 1.75 meter. In the channel embankment are panels of 7 tangent columns with a panel spacing of 1.5 meter.
Column design strenght is: 600 kpa for road embankment columns and 1000 kpa for channel embankment columns.
Soil conditions go from a very wet, soft clay in the upper region, to very stiff clay (300-350 kpa) at 14-15 meters depht.
QA/QC consists of core sampling of production columns, with a pre-production test program that consisted of core samples, live load test and complete column excavation. The project was originally designed for wet mix methods with very high levels of uniformity in the coulms expected and requiered.
With MDM Speed Track could achieve and surpass the quality control, see picture below of excavated and disected column.
