Qvantenburg, wind power plant foundation, Mellerud, Sweden
600 mm diameter columns
Binder: 100% cement, 400 kg/m3
Column lenght: 4-17 meters
Total meters: Approx. +8400
Columns per foundation pad: 257
This project consists of three wind power plant platforms within a 0.5 mile radius of each other in the south of Sweden. The soil conditions are mostly soft clays down to rock at anywhere from 5 to 17 meters depht.
All three power plants are manufactured by Enercon. They are of type E-82 with a hub height of 98 meter. The foot print of the platforms measures 17.6 meters in diameter.
Completed these units weigh about 2200 tons, all included.
The foundation consisted of 257 MDM columns for each platform. These platforms are sunken into the ground at a depth of 2.0 meters. See picture below.
This necessitated the use of retarders in the MDM process in order to be able to excavate to the desired depths up to 16 hours after column installation.
